This Dutch Flora and Fauna ABC was my first x stitch project. My mother had started it several years before, stitching the U to Z and starting the T. However, because of wrist problems, she couldn't finish it, so I offered to do it in spring 1995. I finished it in October, just in time for my mom's birthday!

The letters are for the following flora and fauna (first the Dutch name corresponding to the letter, between brackets the English translation if necessary):

A-Aardbei (Strawberry); B-Begonia; C-Citroen (Lemon); D-Doodshoofdvlinderrups (Death's head moth caterpillar); E-Eucalyptus; F-Fresia (Freesia); G-Goudvink (Bullfinch); H-Honingbij (Honeybee); I-Iris; J-Japanse kers (Japanese flowering cherry); K-Koninginnepage (Swallowtail butterfly); M-Mees (Tit); N-Neushoornkever (Rhinoceros beetle); O-Oost-indische kers (Nasturtium); P-Peer (Pear); Q-Quercus/Eik (Oak); R-Roos (Rose); S-Spin (Spider); T-Tulp (Tulip); U-Ui (Onion); V-Vliegend hert (Stag beetle); W-Wesp (Wasp); X-Xeranthemum/Papierbloem; Y-IJsvogel (Kingfisher); Z-Zwaluw (Swallow).

 

Dog ABC

Another Dutch ABC, which I stitched because I love dogs, and also the colour blue, so this was a perfect combination!

The letters are for the following dog races (first the Dutch name corresponding to the letter, between brackets the English translation if necessary):

If anyone can help me with the three missing names, I would be very grateful!
